The Opportunity
Your Career
At O'Connells OBM, we are committed to our most important asset, our people. We have in place a career development path based on talent and performance.
Progression in our firm is via performance and commitment, not longevity.
You can join O'Connells OBM as an Assistant Advisor and complete your studies while working in the firm. You can work elsewhere as part of your development then return to continue your career within the firm.
Finally, invitations to become a Director will be made as skills are developed and client relationships / client portfolios grown.
Some team members may develop unique specialist advisory skills and some may remain working as generalists with their SME clients. The firm with its growth plans will be large enough to offer opportunities for promotion and specialization in both areas.
Your Development
Unique to our OBM environment – by learning to think and act as an owner, you learn the business skills to help clients run their business – giving you accelerated development into client advising.
O’Connells OBM uses innovative, quality training techniques – our training has been recognised as accelerating learning in a national forum. The training is thorough, effective, and ensures fast development.
As part of our career mapping/goal setting system, each team member designs their own individual development plan nominating both overall goals and development action points.
Our performance-appraisal system draws on a wide range of material, and provides a comprehensive framework for your professional development
Team members are able to participate in our coaching / mentoring program, which is designed to help you reach your potential, personally and professionally.
Weekly training meetings cover a wide range of areas and team members are not only encouraged to participate in the meetings, but to also run various sessions or segments.
Coupled with weekly training meetings, external trainers are brought in to provide more in-depth training on a range of topics, and attendance at external seminars also provides opportunity to further professional and personal development.
We offer financial, time and study material support through the CA Program.
Our talent development program has been accredited by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia - meaning students who undertake the CA program with us aren't required to complete the practical experience component of the CA program, rather simply participate in and successfully complete aspects of our program.
