OBM (Open Book Management)

OBM is about creating a business of business owners, where all team members learn to think and act as an owner.
It has the goal of eliminating weaknesses and is a long-term process for continuous growth and improvement
It facilitates discussion and ideas. Input is encouraged from all team members in various facets of the business in an attempt to keep the business moving in the right direction.
It is about learning the rules of the game – the critical actions needed that drive the success of the business and how everyone can contribute to the running and development of the business.

Team Culture

Our Open Book Management environment creates a unique team culture, where everyone is friendly and supportive, rather than competing against each other to try and get ahead – simply because we realize it is in everyone’s best interest for everyone to reach their potential.

You won’t be doing just compliance work, such as preparing financial statements, either. We take a proactive and holistic approach and go above and beyond clients’ expectations by offering business ideas and solutions to make a real difference.
As part of our OBM environment, a number of “games” are played throughout the year. The “games” are designed by team members to target areas where as a business we can improve. Measures are put in place, and prizes are rewarded for turning the weakness around (either collectively or individually).
In an environment where new ideas are encouraged, we are happy to fund seminars and conferences that stimulate your thinking, where it is in the interests of you, the practice, and our clients.
In the interests of balancing work and life commitments, it is possible for team members to nominate to work outside standard office hours of 8.30am to 5.00pm, subject to some conditions.
The team and the partners understand that team members may wish to experience working, living or travelling overseas, for a period of time longer than normal holiday periods.

Accordingly the firm's position is that we are keen to accommodate those desires in a way that is practical and workable for all parties.

The duration and timing of such absence/ travel is to be arranged by negotiation.

Innovation

We are a highly innovative firm and our Open Book Management System enables us to make changes and adapt very quickly.
We operate in a “paperless office” environment using modern technology including individual scanners.
We use the Edward de Bono “Six Thinking Hats” creative thinking technique, ensuring that new team members have good input into the Open Book Management process.

Remuneration

Remuneration is performance based and set with reference to current market information.
After 12 months, you will earn a percentage of the firm’s profits through our Profit Share Scheme and
After 2 years, you begin to earn options towards our Employee Share Ownership Plan.
For candidates of the Chartered Accountants (CA) Program, we make payment of ICAA membership fees, payment of each successfully completed module and offer three days study leave per module.
