Perspectives from Our Team
These came straight from O’Connells OBM Pty Ltd team members,
by email, responding to another team member. When asked “What
causes OBM to work?” responses were received back quickly.
The conclusion is that it was easy for them to think of good points.
- I personally have a sense of ownership. If there is
something that is bugging me, or if I can see where improvements
are needed, I know that I can mention it at OBM monthly meeting,
and a change will happen if most of the team agree.
- The team is in charge of making things happen. So if
we don’t make things happen, we only have ourselves to blame.
- OBM allows us all to have input into the way the firm operates,
and provides a good experience in learning which factors are looked
at in running a business and how to improve the way a firm operates.
OBM makes all employees feel like they are putting their bit into
the management of the firm, and ensures "ownership".
- OBM gives me a feeling of self-importance, and encourages
me to work smarter.
- Participation and involvement are key features of OBM.
The OBM kits are logical and easy to understand, with summarised
diagrams, comparisons to previous years, and budgets to aim for
- but don’t include so much information that it swamps you.
- OBM involves everybody.
- OBM shows the “big picture” of the firm.
